His shop foremen was James Haslett. McCormick brought Haslett from Ireland to become
his shop foreman. In 1799 McCormick delivered 3,986 muskets to the federal government. In May 1801 McCormick went bankrupt and spent several month in prison. His business assets were sold to John Miles, Philadelphia. US records espesially John Harris Receipt Book stipulate that Robert McCormick assembled and fitted from Government Parts: August 6, 1799 - 82 Horseman's Pistols August 10, 1799 - 16 Horseman's Pistols December 11, 1799 - 100 Pistols about 1799 - 4000 Muskets for the state of Virginia, 925 were delivered. |
